75 attend first-ever OUT & GREEK National Leadership Conference

As an openly gay fraternity man, I had the honor to be the co-editor and writer of the first ever book "Out on Fraternity Row: Personal Accounts of Being Gay in a College Fraternity" that came out in 1998. It was a best seller in the gay community but the reward were the thousands of emails I would receive in the last ten years from LGBT out and, or closeted fraternity and sorority members. Some struggling, some questioning, more celebrating but all of them wanting to be who they are.

So when Campus Pride via our Lambda 10 Project had the opportunity to host the first-ever leadership conference "OUT & GREEK," I jumped at it. Never has there been a leadership conference to share, network and learn strategies to create safer, more LGBT inclusive fraternity and sorority communities. The conference was not only the first of its kind for undergraduate fraternity and sorority leaders but it also represented an "action oriented" way to create change nationally. In addtion to the fabulous keynotes via Campuspeak.com, one of the sponsors, we also unveiled the first-ever "Trans Discussion Guide for Fraternities and Sororities."
