HOMERUN: Gay ShootOUT Softball Tourney

So I just spent the Easter weekend attending the Birmingham ShootOUT – basically the gay softball tournament. Wow! It was FUN!

I started playing softball a year ago when Charlotte created our own gay league. I played hardball in high school so it wasn’t a difficult adjustment; however, I finally got my batting stance fixed this time around. Some of you may know that I already played gay rugby so this was another way to act like I was younger than I am. LOL I have never been more sore -- I was catcher! No jokes please.

Well, our team ended up getting sixth place in the C Division out of 32 teams. Not bad. I had a great time -- .579 batting average the whole tourney and hit the winning double against the “Gay World Series Champions.” Plus, I took out a guy at home plate and.. got the OUT!

I am reminded how competitive I truly am when I play sports. Not sure if that is good or bad.. but gay sports are full of drama, that’s for sure… I hope to go to another tourney soon!
